I have the Classic Bed with the Pillowboard. Can I buy the Classic Headboard on its own and will it work with the Classic Bed I have?

Yes. The Classic Headboard is compatible with all existing Thuma Beds. Some disassembly is required to attach it, but as with the Classic Bed, there’s no tools required for set-up.

Does the Classic Headboard have to go up against the wall?

No. Thanks to Japanese joinery, the Classic Headboard is secured to the Classic Bed and needs no additional support or backing.

Is the Classic Headboard made from the same material as the Classic Bed?

Yes. The Classic Headboard is made from the same solid, high-quality, upcycled wood as the Classic Bed.

How long does it take to switch from the Pillowboard to the Classic Headboard?

It takes about 5(ish) minutes. You’ll need to disassemble the Classic Bed and reassemble with some new pieces, but the Classic Headboard assembly is just as seamless as the Classic Bed’s, using the same Japanese joinery and hand-tightened screws.

Is the Classic Headboard the same size as the Pillowboard?

No, the Classic Headboard is taller and wider than the Pillowboard. At 26”, it’s 4” taller than the Pillowboard.

How do I care for the Classic Headboard?

The Classic Headboard is finished with an oil-based stain that will develop a beautiful patina over time. To maintain this neutral color, it’s best to avoid moisture and keep out of direct sunlight. Using a soft cloth for cleaning is recommended.
